Hungerford believes that understanding technology in the 21st century has the power to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning across all subjects and ages. We believe that our children are at the forefront of new technologies and need an understanding of uses of technology in the modern world.
Technology is increasingly becoming a part of everyday life so it is vitally important we equip our students for the challenges of tomorrow. We teach them a range of skills which will enable them to interact with the wider world using a range of technological equipment. We also ensure that our students have all the key skills necessary to engage, communicate and interact with the community.
We believe that technology can provide enhanced collaborative learning opportunities; better engagement of pupils; easier access to rich content; support conceptual understanding of new concepts and can support the needs of all our pupils.
As Hungerford believe it is important that children leave the school with a wide range of technological experience, the access to resources is kept up to date and current. A range of resources are available as we have 1:1 iPads from Year 1-6 and access to the St Barts ICT Lending Library which means resources are fully maintained and replenished when required. These resources allow for additional exploration and opportunities.
Internet access is planned to enrich and extend learning activities. The school has acknowledged the need to ensure that all pupils are responsible and safe users of the internet and other communication technologies. Although the school offers a safe online environment through filtered internet access, we recognise the importance of teaching our children about online safety and their responsibilities when using communication technology outside of this safe space. Online Safety forms part of studies in our digital skills and ICT lessons.
